Giving your home this fresh start and clutter free with help you and those in your home mentally and emotionally as well as financially.  A clutter free space and living a little on the minimal side will free up time, the time spent putting STUFF away, giving you more time for family and your getting fit work outs.  If your anything like how I was, I always said I don't have time for myself and working out ,living more minimal has freed that time up.  I am spending less time cleaning and straightening up my house.  I love living with a tidy but cozy home, almost like I am living in those model homes where no one touches anything, hahaha! I live like this when the kids aren't home, but it really does free up that time.

Financially you will be happier, studies say that living minimal you are less likely to spend money on more STUFF to fill your life.  You will be able to save that money and spend it on family time, vacations, and/ or yourself.  Having that quality time and spending the money on experiences fulfills you emotionally rather that more STUFF.  In my home we are teaching our children that it's more emotionally satisfying to spend our money on experiences rather than things.  We give the kids a choice for their birthday or holiday, "would you like to go somewhere or a season pass to somewhere."? (now we are not replacing all the gifts just the bulk of them).   Either way we are spending about the same amount of money but the memories are going to last a lifetime. We don't go all out, for example, my daughter loves the zoo so instead of $100 in toys for the holiday she wanted a season pass to the zoo. This also goes for her birthday as well, since her fifth birthday we gave her the choice of a party or a fun outing.  She has always chose an experience, she is now 11 and still makes this choice. And yes we always end up with a gift shop item, but one or two gift shop items is better than twenty toys they play with a few times.  This is a good examples of living minimal as a family. You are welcome to write to me on more ideas of living minimal as a family.

If you are having trouble with where to start, start with one room and area at a time.  I am not going to go into to much in detail about organizing, but start with getting ride of stuff you don't use or you have too many of.  This tip can be used in your closets, cupboards, pantry, laundry room, and even in the places of your home that you can see.  The places you can see would be a dining room hutch, shelving, an entertainment center, basically if it's a place out in the open and the shelf is too full like all the others than you might want to take a look at what needs to be out displayed and what you want to keep.  If you are having a hard time deciding what to keep and can't get rid of the collection of collectibles, then keep a few items out and house the rest in a tote and rotate out for the seasons or every few months.  That way it's looks less cluttered and this allows you to change up your decor so you don't get board and have the itch to purchase more items.
